Dog days of summer…the sultry part of the summer, supposed to occur during the period that Sirius, the Dog Star, rises at the same time as the sun. This usually happens between July 3 and August 11. These dog days are supposedly a period marked by lethargy, inactivity, or indolence.
So, after a lovely, inactive, indolent and lazy break in Scotland we are back to work with a vengeance, with a full schedule of events lined up for August. We are looking forward to the ever popular Isle Funride on Sunday 11th August, organised by the North Shropshire Hunt…our popular montages will be available as usual.
We are also looking forward to covering the Midarc Championships at Netley Hall on the 9th, 10th and 11th August.
Minsterley Show is on Saturday 17th August followed by Church Stretton Horse and Pony Show on Sunday 18th…both shows are now taking entries. We will also be at the United Pack Norbury Funride on Sunday 18th August…a lovely funride through a beautiful part of Shropshire.
A new event for this year is the Tedsmore Hunter Trials on Saturday 24th August…a fun and friendly hunter trials with fences no bigger than 70cms. Great for beginners and novices… to include a popular pairs class.
We shall once again be at Ross Rowing Regatta over the August bank holiday weekend, returning in good time to prepare ourselves for a busy weekend at Llanymynech Horse Trials which take place on 31st August and 1st September…entries are still being taken. Don’t forget that the Tuesday evening Showjumping at Radfords, Llanymynech runs through until the end of August…only a few more weeks left.
Then we shall be in September…when we have even more Funrides, Hunter Trials and One Day Events. More on that next time
